About me and my therapy practice

Charlotte Steel Therapy Salisbury

I am an Humanistic Integrative Therapist. The therapy I offer encompasses several types of therapeutic approaches that focus on personal growth, self-awareness, and a client’s innate ability to find wisdom, healing and fulfilment within themselves. I work with issues such as;

depression | anxiety | low self-esteem | bereavement | guilt | shame | childhood trauma | life-limiting illness | personal relationships | day-to-day challenges | coping with family illness

I offer a confidential space and a listening ear so you can share your difficulties and explore your feelings safely in the knowledge that you will be treated with respect and kindness and that you will be heard without judgment.

By working through your concerns, issues, and challenges, therapy can, in time, help you find the ability and resilience to face life head-on, striving towards a happier future.

You may not know exactly what is bothering you or causing your current distress, but taking time to delve into the challenges gently can bring relief and clarity. We can work with whatever you bring to therapy - it's your choice to decide what you'd like to explore. Unpacking emotional baggage means it's no longer a dead weight.

Types of therapy

Gestalt

Gestalt therapy is a humanistic, person-centred approach that explores how your past affects and influences how you're feeling in this present moment to facilitate personal growth.

Integrative

As an integrative counsellor, I consider you and your circumstances and use elements of different approaches to help you explore and cope with your problems.

Every client is different and I can tailor the right approach for the individual and make therapy unique for that person.

Humanistic

Humanistic therapy focuses on free will, potential, and self-discovery to help you build a strong sense of self and explore your emotions, find meaning, and focus on your strengths.

Person-centred

Person-centred therapy is based on the belief that individuals have an inherent drive towards growth and self-actualisation. It creates a non-judgmental environment that leads you to honest self-exploration.

Transactional Analysis

Transactional analysis is a type of therapy that explores an individual's personality and how it is shaped by past experiences, especially those from childhood. The process involves adept questioning and uses different techniques to achieve this goal.

Complementary therapy

As well as a counsellor, I am a complementary therapist with over 20 years of experience. I address the impact of anxiety and stress on physical health. Symptoms like body aches, sleep disturbances, and digestive issues often arise from these conditions.

Massage therapy deals with the body to improve a person’s quality of life whereas talking through something that may be bothering you could help achieve the same goal. Working holistically, I am now offering a combined treatment.

Sessions begin with a check-in, by talking about your stresses and tuning in to what’s going on in your body as you talk, we can start releasing that stress, bringing attention back to the body and helping to release any tension.

Sessions conclude with either a one-hour back massage, a 90-minute full-body massage, or reflexology. While not a counselling session, I integrate counselling skills and mindfulness techniques to enhance relaxation.
